As you read this, hundreds of millions of children worldwide suffer from extreme poverty and hunger. The statistics can be overwhelming, often leaving us feeling hopeless and incapable of combating such a seemingly insurmountable problem.

That’s why it’s such a pleasure to announce that, this Sunday, we are partnering with Compassion International as part of their annual Compassion Sunday initiative. Compassion International is committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name and Compassion Sunday is the organization’s way of raising awareness within the Christian community every year.

By pairing sponsors with children worldwide, Compassion International connects those who care with a way to act on that care. Compassion International has thousands of Compassion Centers in high-poverty areas internationally, serving children and their families, enabling children to be cared for not just physically and financially, but spiritually.

This Sunday, you will have the opportunity to sponsor and release a child from poverty in Jesus’ name. By sponsoring a child, you will be providing access to basic physical needs, like food and healthcare, as well as spiritual nourishment provided at a Compassion Center—all for only $43 a month.

Furthermore, Compassion International facilitates two-way communication between sponsors and the children they sponsor, allowing sponsors to send and receive letters, cards, pictures, and more. So not only will you be empowered to make a real difference in the life of a child, but you will also be able to build and nurture a real relationship with that child!

Our hope is that you would prayerfully consider sponsoring a child through Compassion International this Sunday. This is an amazing opportunity to step into Rockford Reformed Church’s vision and make an impact on the world for the cause of Jesus Christ.
