Missions & Outreach

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

RRC helps support several missionaries and partners with many local organizations. Our goal is to build relationships with these ministries and not just be a name on a check. We strive to be intentional with our giving and to be a source of comfort, strength, and support to kingdom-building ministries both locally and abroad. Learn more at rockfordreformedchurch.org/get-involved/missions-and-outreach.

This team meets several times throughout the year. These meetings are spent sharing about the ministries we support and thinking about how we can be more relational. We also discuss current missions-related topics, opportunities to serve, and spend time in prayer asking for God’s guidance when decisions are made. Please let us know if you feel called to join the Missions Team or if there is something that you think the Missions Team should be aware of. We would love to hear how the Lord is working in your life.

Throughout the year we will be planning in-person, video based, or a simple write-up for each of our global and local missionary partners. Information will be included in the Sunday bulletin. Updates are important to keep our congregation updated and encouraged to hear and see how God is working through our missionary partners as we seek to further God’s Kingdom by fulfilling the Great Commission. We encourage our congregation to reach out to our global missionaries through email, cards, or letters. It is a great encouragement to them to know they are thought about and prayed for.

    • update: 2023 year in review
    • about: The Christian church in Cambodia was nearly wiped out in the late 1970s under the brutal Khmer Rouge regime. Since the return of peace in the 1990s, the church has been steadily growing. In a country where there were once killing fields, new churches are springing up as believers go into every part of Cambodia to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Mark and Deb help prepare new leaders for ministry. Mark works in partnership with Phnom Penh Bible School (PPBS) as a teacher, textbook writer, and a board member. PPBS aims to help Cambodian leaders and churches discover and live into God’s intentions and help others do the same. Although retired from full-time mission service, Deb serves as the board chair for Garden of Life, a ministry that provides professional training and counseling services to churches and Christian organization leaders.

Leaving Haiti with a desire to make a difference, CWO was formed. For the first several years we focused our work on conducting evangelistic youth camps for young people (ages 13 to 30 years). In the years since CWO has grown to provide vocational training, leadership development, children’s feeding programs, medical clinics, HIV/AIDS prevention education, orphan assistance, youth camps, libraries, opportunities for discipleship, evangelistic outreach and more. In 1999, CWO began to expand its programs to also include work in Burkina Faso, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
